My Journey to the Middle Earth

I’ve been wanting to write about my amazing New Zealand journey since last month, but work loads really keeps me busy. After 2 weeks wandering around laid-back South Island, return to busy Surabaya is total torture :p

So, here we go! First thing you have to consider when you’re planning a trip to New Zealand is the season. Like other countries in southern hemisphere, winter in NZ is on June – August, and summer during December – January. Many traveler forgot this point, and arrived in NZ with totally false wardrobe.

I chose winter because of several points below :
First, i miss feeling the snow falling on my head! That is the reason why I insist to visit Mount Cook (or Aoraki in local language). Btw, a visit to Mount Cook is a must if you are planning ur NZ trip. Not only you will enjoy panorama of the higest mountain in NZ, but the journey to go there is magnificent. We spent too much time for photostop along this route :p mostly in Lake pukaki, stunned by its unique turquoise color.
Second, i honestly avoid high season. I don’t really like crowd, but also can’t imagine my quality time ruined by noisy neighbors or have
to park my caravan in the middle of nowhere because all the caravan parks are fully booked.
Third, it’s cheap! Most people don’t want to go to this part of the world because it is freezing cold! Day temperature is around 2-8 Celcius degrees, while during night time around -6 to 1 Celcius degrees. We met sheeps more than human during this trip haha! This makes our motorhome rental cost down to 1/3 normal price!wooohoooo..

Of course there are some cons you have to consider before you decide to go during winter time. If you are not a winter person, dont do this. The temperature could go down to -10 in the evening. Also you can’t stay in DOC (Dept of Conservation) camping ground – cheap option for campervan parking, usually have no electricity – but have to stay in a holiday park instead. I’ll tell you about my holiday parks (with S, they are many) adventure on my next post 😉 If you ask me which season is the best to visit NZ, i can’t answer it yet. One thing i knew for sure, NZ in winter is very beautiful indeed. Oh by the way, we are arranging private trip and provide consultation for your adventure to New Zealand. It saves your time and money for browsing and we could suggest best options for you! Less hassle and maximal enjoyable journey
